After having tried out the Pinnacle 310e, ADS Tech Dual USB, Hauppage 150 PVR USB2.0 external cards for notebooks - I can only recommend the ADS Cardbus card.

Why? - Best picture quality - very strong reception with low noise. -Only card for notebooks to give 768x576 resolution. Teletext. And Nextvepg reception. Basically it is as good as any PCI card out there and lower CPU utilisation than all USB cards. Oh and Phillips 7134 chipset. Only problem is that the Audio settings in KTV can't be accessed as this will crash KTV - no need for it luckily! NO SOUND LAG AT ALL

Unluckily my Laptop has no PCMCIA slot but only the new expresscard slot. Therefore I can't use it. All USB cards are worse in any sense. From the other cards on top the ADS is about on par with the Pinnacle but installation was easier. Driver installed, rebooted, and ktv works directly! The WDM drivers are very stable. The image quality of the Hauppage was not as good as the pinnacle and ADS.

My advice therefore to allways buy PCMCIA tv-cards instead of USB cards if possible! With the ADS Cardbus (maybe other PCMCIA cards with SAA7134 chipset too) you will get PCI card dscaler quality with ktv - well maybe very slightly inferior.

Oh and Canal+ isn't even found. They must have build in some protection in order not to be able to choose canal+.

The channels are somehow different from all other cards. On can only tune into channel 0 to 70 but 0 normal does not correspond to channel 0 here. Even copying a channel table doesn't work in KTV.

So no more troubles about decoding if people use this card. quenottecheese
